Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal disorder that affects women. This occurs when the ovaries produce too much male hormones, or androgens, which causes the egg cells to stop growing and become filled with follicles. This can disrupt the menstrual cycle, cause excessive androgen levels, and lead to infertility, weight gain, acne, and insulin resistance. Difficulty getting pregnant is a major problem for women.
