Government shutdown enters second day; US braces for mass layoffs

 

 

The US shutdown continues for the second day after the government spending bill failed to pass again. Various sectors are at a standstill. All government agencies except essential services have shut down after the Senate failed to reach a consensus at the last minute. The shutdown of government services for the second day has also affected ordinary people. Meanwhile, the White House has reiterated that it will lay off about 750,000 government employees.

All government services except essential services such as health care, border security, and aviation have been disrupted. The bill will be introduced again in the Senate on Friday.
