A cafe owned by Indian celebrity Kapil Sharma has been attacked for the third time in Surrey, British Columbia. Unknown assailants opened fire on Kapil Sharma's 'Caps Cafe'. This is the third time this year the establishment has been attacked. The Surrey Police Service said the shooting took place at around 4 am and that employees were in the cafe at the time of the incident, but no one was injured. Initial indications are that the attack is related to the recent increase in extortion threats in the area.
Several similar shootings and threats have been made against businesses owned by South Asians in Surrey and the Lower Mainland this year. Such incidents have caused great concern in the city. Canadian police suspect that Lawrence Bishnoi's gang is behind these attacks. Police said bullet holes were found at the scene and that they were examining CCTV footage from the area for further evidence. An extortion task force has been formed at the provincial level to curb the increasing threats and violence. This task force is also investigating the current incident.
