People with blood type A are at higher risk of stroke than people with other blood types, a study has found. The study was conducted by researchers at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. The researchers came to this conclusion through a meta-data analysis of 48 genetic studies involving 17,000 stroke patients under the age of 60.

People with blood type A are 16 percent more likely to have a stroke before the age of 60, the researchers said.

Meanwhile, people with blood type O are 12 percent less likely to have a stroke, the study said.
