Dhyan Chand Award-winning hockey player and Olympian Manuel Frederick passes away

Manuel Frederick, the hockey player known as the Tiger in the Goal Face in Hockey and the first Malayali to win a medal at the Olympics, passed away. He passed away in Bengaluru. He was a native of Barnassery, Kannur.

Despite the presence of prominent hockey players like Dhyan Chand's son Ashok Kumar and Ajitpal Singh in the 1970 team, India often advanced due to the excellence of goalkeeper Manuel Frederick. Manuel's performance in India's bronze medal match against the Netherlands was noteworthy. He was a member of two national teams for the World Cup.

He lived in Bengaluru for many years. He played everything for the services and for Karnataka. Manuel Frederick's life was spent in the field of sports until the last moment. Proof of this is his frequent presence as a trainer in schools and colleges in Karnataka.
