Polio reported in Germany. The first case of polio in Europe since 2010 has now been reported in Germany. A variant of the polio virus called wild polio has been found in Hamburg's sewage.

The polio virus infects children under the age of five. Symptoms include fever and vomiting. Since mass vaccination was announced in 1988, 99 percent of the polio virus has been eradicated worldwide.
