New York: Despite intense criticism, New York City Mayor-elect Sohran Mamdani stands by calling President Donald Trump a 'fascist'. Mamdani made his stand clear in an interview after a friendly meeting at the White House.

Cooperation despite differences: Mamdani said he would work with Trump to work for New Yorkers. The two shared common interests on issues such as the cost of living, rent and grocery prices in the city. Trump described the meeting as a 'very rational' meeting.

Confirmed stance: Asked if he still stands by his earlier call of Trump as a 'fascist' and a 'threat to democracy', Mamdani replied, 'I still believe everything I said before'. He added that the important thing is to work together for common goals without hiding our differences.

Security: Asked about Trump's past threats to deploy troops to the city, Mamdani said he had confidence in the NYPD to ensure public safety. He also announced that he would keep Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch.

The friendly meeting between the political rivals came after months of public rhetoric.
