Polio resurfaces in Germany; first in Europe since 2010

 

 

The wild polio virus has been reported in Germany. The wild polio virus was found in a sample taken from sewage in the city of Hamburg, Germany.

This is the first time wild polio has been found in Europe since 2010. However, no human cases have been reported in Germany so far. Health officials say that the situation in Germany is not a cause for concern and that caution and vaccination are needed.
