Chicago: Chicago recorded its first major snowfall of the season. The total snowfall amount reached 8 inches. The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning this weekend, which will be in effect until 6 a.m. Sunday.
New daily snowfall records were set in Chicago and Rockford on Saturday. Chicago's previous record for this date was 3.0' (set in 1942), while Rockford's previous record was 3.0' (set in 1925).

More than 1,400 flights were canceled at O'Hare and Midway airports due to heavy snowfall. Chicago and Rockford broke previous records for daily snowfall today. Authorities said the snowfall will continue throughout Saturday night and travel disruptions are possible until Sunday morning.
