A 7.6-magnitude earthquake has struck Japan. A tsunami warning has been issued for Japan's northeastern coast following the quake. The quake struck late Monday. The Japan Earthquake Agency warned that waves of up to 3 meters high were possible.
The warning is for the coastal areas of Hokkaido, Aomori and Iwata in Japan. The earthquake struck in the sea 80 km from Aomori. The epicenter was 50 km underground. Tremors were reported to have been felt as far away as the capital Tokyo.
