A study has found a four-fold increase in heart disease since the Covid pandemic. The study, conducted by the Department of Cardiology at Omandurar Government Multispeciality Hospital in Chennai, suggests that this may be due to the inflammation of blood vessel cells caused by the coronavirus. The findings have been published in the European Heart Journal.

The study found that coronary artery ectasia, a disease caused by abnormal development of blood vessels to the heart, has increased in people between the ages of 30 and 40. The study looked at seven years of medical records and angiography results of people aged 18 to 80.
