Bangladesh has made attempts to reconcile as India-Bangladesh relations have deteriorated. The Bangladesh interim government has no intention of worsening relations with India and its focus is on strengthening bilateral relations, said the interim government's financial advisor, Salihuddin Ahmed. Muhammad Yunus, who heads the interim government, said that efforts are being made to normalize relations.

Salihuddin also said that Bangladesh has decided to import fifty thousand metric tons of rice from India. Meanwhile, India-Bangladesh High Commissioner Riyaz Hamidullah was summoned for the second time yesterday. India's action comes after the Bangladesh Foreign Ministry summoned the Indian High Commissioner and demanded that its diplomats be ensured security.
