Protests in Iran are gaining momentum

Popular protests in Iran, which began after the sharp fall in the value of the currency, are gaining momentum. A security officer was killed in clashes with protesters during the four-day protests.

The security officer was killed in clashes in the city of Qodasht in western Lorestan province. The 21-year-old was a member of the Basij, a paramilitary wing affiliated with the Revolutionary Guard, and there are reports that 13 police officers and Basij members were injured in stone-throwing by protesters.
