Recognized environmentalist Madhav Gadgil (83), who played a crucial role in shaping the grassroots environmental movements in India, passed away. He passed away in Pune on Wednesday night after undergoing treatment for an illness. His death was confirmed by his son Siddhartha Gadgil.
Madhav Gadgil's name will always be remembered in the history of environmental protection through the report submitted by the Western Ghats Environmental Expert Committee, which he chaired.
