Washington DC: US trade adviser Peter Navarro has taken a tough stance on trade relations with India. He alleged that countries including India and China are using artificial intelligence (AI) services that use resources on American soil on a large scale, which is causing economic imbalances.
Navarro pointed out that platforms like Avaya operate on American soil and use American electricity for this. He argued that it is a loss for the United States that large Indian consumers are served using these facilities.
He called for digital exports to be viewed from a protectionist perspective, just like physical products, and for controlling the spending of American resources on other countries.
Navarro's new move comes at a time when trade talks between Washington and New Delhi are at a standstill.
The financial world is watching closely to see how this new dispute in the American IT sector will affect diplomatic relations with India in the coming days.
