Cancer patients are at higher risk of dying from heart disease than the general population, a study has found. The long-term changes cancer causes in the body's fluid and blood clotting processes increase the risk of heart disease, according to a study published in the Journal of the American Heart Association. The study was conducted by researchers at the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences.

The researchers say that more care is needed regarding the risk of heart disease during and after cancer treatment. The report also points out that those who are affected by cancer at a young age should be more careful in this regard.
