'Just went out for a walk'; Mother arrested for leaving three-year-old son alone to drink at bars

Texas: Police have arrested a woman who left her three-year-old son alone in her apartment and went to drink with a friend. The arrest was made by Texas native Justice Lee Monsibis. She told police that she needed a change of heart and that's why she went out.

The child was found alone in a dirty diaper on the stairs of the apartment complex by neighbors. They immediately informed the police.

When the police arrived, the door to the apartment was unlocked. There was no one inside. The mother returned home after about 40 minutes. The woman initially said that she had left the child with a relative. However, during investigation, the police found that this relative had not been there for years.

During subsequent interrogation, the woman admitted that she had gone to bars with her friend and had left the child alone. The child was not injured. The woman, who was arrested for child abandonment, was later released on a $5,000 bond.
