High Court stays Bevco's prize scheme

 

 

The High Court has granted an interim stay to the action taken by the Beverages Corporation to announce a prize scheme to name the new liquor to be launched. Bevco had announced a prize of Rs 10,000 for those who could find a name for the brandy produced by Malabar Distilleries in Palakkad. Meanwhile, Bevco informed the court that it was not they who announced the prize for those who suggested the best name.

After the competition in naming the liquor drew criticism, it filed a reply affidavit in the High Court clarifying that it was not behind this.
