The Indo-American Press Club (IAPC) and Global Indian Council (GIC) honored the winners of the 2026 Online News Writing Competition during a virtual ceremony celebrating journalistic excellence. The contest, designed to test on-the-spot reporting skills without external aids, aimed to highlight originality, accuracy, and the human element in journalism.
Keynote address by Senior Journalist AJ Philip stressed the importance of true news writing using the inverted pyramid style and simple, reader-focused language, while S. Radhakrishnan Asst Director MASCOM addressed challenges in global journalism such as cultural barriers, bias, and sensationalism, urging ethical, collaborative, and multimedia reporting.
Top winners Dyuthi Susan Zachariah, Neba Anna Thomas, and Subhodip Chowdary were recognized for their constructive and insightful journalism. The event also featured discussions on citizen journalism ethics, practical training gaps in journalism education, and the need for mentorship.
Leaders including P.C. Mathew, GIC President, Sudhir Nambiar, General Secretary, Prof. Joy Pallattumadom VP, Santy Mathew PRO and Adv. Dr. K.C. George CEO of Deepalaya New Delhi congratulated the participants, praising the IAPC–GIC collaboration.
IAPC founder Chairman Ginsmon Zacharia, Executive Vice President James Kureekattil( Detroit), IAPC Board Member C G Daniel ( Houston), Noble Augustine (Alberta, Canada) felicitated the winners.
Vote of thanks by Sudhir Nambiar GIC highlighted the competition’s role in nurturing responsible, skilled journalists and strengthening future media advocacy, under a collaboration of two great organizations.
