New York: Time Magazine's 2026 'Woman of the Year' list, which honors women who are changing the world, has been released. Three Indian-origin women who have made a unique mark in the fields of education, finance and biotechnology have made it to this prestigious list.
Safina Hussain is the founder of 'Educate Girls', an NGO that brings girls who have dropped out of school in rural areas of India back into the classroom. So far, they have brought 1.5 million girls back into education. It is also the first Indian NGO to receive the Ramon Magsaysay Award.
Reshma Saujani, founder of 'Girls Who Code' and 'Moms First'. They were honored for their efforts to combat the child care crisis in America and for economic equality for mothers.
Dr. Reshma Kewalramani, CEO of leading biotech company Vertex Pharmaceuticals, led the world's first CRISPR-based gene editing treatment for sickle cell anemia.
Pakistani lawyer Mahnoor Omar and singer Brandi Carlile are also on the list.
