The Union Home Ministry has warned states that there is a possibility of violence in India as tensions spread in West Asia. The Centre's warning comes after protests broke out in Jammu and Kashmir and Lucknow in UP after the assassination of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The news agency reported that the Centre has written a letter to all state governments in this regard. The Union Home Ministry has also asked states to be on high alert in view of the possibility of communal clashes in India.
