In view of the potential crisis in the availability of petroleum products and natural gas due to the conflict in West Asia, the Central government has invoked the Essential Commodities Act (1955). Meanwhile, the news agency reports that priority will be given to the supply of natural gas for domestic needs, CNG and LPG production for transport, pipeline compressor fuel and other critical pipeline needs.
The main objective of this step is to avoid natural gas shortage as it could affect about 33.2 crore LPG consumers in the country.
