An Indian was killed in an Iranian attack on a US-owned oil tanker near Basra, Iraq. The deceased was an Indian crew member of the ship. The remaining 15 crew members on board the ship are safe and have been shifted to a safe location, the Indian embassy in Baghdad said.
The Indian embassy said it is in constant touch with the Iraqi authorities on the incident and will ensure all possible assistance. Meanwhile, there have been reports of Iran attacking another oil tanker in the Persian Gulf. This ship also caught fire, according to reports.
