The Constitutional Amendment Bill failed in Lok Sabha after not getting two-thirds majority. Out of 528, 298 voted in favor of the bill. 230 voted against. The Lok Sabha was adjourned till 11 am on Saturday.
The bill was put to the vote after the discussion in the Lok Sabha and the government's reply on the Constitutional Amendment Bill. Since it was a Constitutional Amendment Bill, a two-thirds majority was required to be passed in the Lok Sabha. But the opposition was strongly opposing it. This was an amendment bill to implement women's reservation.
