Sharks are facing a major threat due to human interference. In a recent study, researchers have identified the presence of drugs, caffeine and painkillers in sharks in the Bahamas.
Researchers from Brazil and Chile studied 85 sharks in the area. The attempt was to find out whether they were carrying 24 types of drugs, both legal and illegal.
Among those selected for the study, 28 sharks living in the ocean near the island of Eleuthera were found to have substances such as caffeine, cocaine and painkillers.
It is worrying that these drugs are not deliberately ingested by the sharks, but are forced into them due to pollution.
