Indian Railways set to cut 30,000 posts

 

 

Indian Railways is set to cut about 30,000 posts across the country. The Railway Board has directed the general managers of various zones to cut 29,906 posts this year. The maximum number of posts will be cut in the Northern Railways - 3,303. The Southern Railways will lose 1,906 posts.

The posts being cut are mainly in the non-safety category. Each general manager has been given a target of cutting two percent of the permissible staff as of April 1, 2026.
