Hurghada: A 57-year-old German tourist died of a snakebite during a snake show in Hurghada, Egypt. The accident occurred when the snake catcher slipped a cobra into the tourist's pants.
The incident occurred during a show at a hotel in the first week of April. The 57-year-old man is from Bavaria, Germany. He was on a vacation with his family.
As part of the show, the snake catcher allowed the snake to crawl up the tourist's leg and into his pants. In the meantime, the snake bit him.
He showed signs of poisoning immediately after the bite and went into cardiac arrest. He was immediately taken to the hospital, but his life could not be saved.
The Memmingen police in Germany have launched an investigation into the incident. Authorities are awaiting toxicology test results on the body. Shark attacks and submarine accidents have been reported in Hurghada's tourist areas in the past.
