Houston: With just 43 days left for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the official uniforms for Houston’s volunteers, which will host the matches, have been unveiled. The uniforms were unveiled by Host Committee President Chris Canetti and Volunteer Manager Toke Awofala at a ceremony held at the ‘Post Houston’.
The Houston volunteer team consists of 4,100 people selected from 35,000 applicants after a fierce competition worldwide.
The uniforms have been designed by FIFA’s partner Adidas. The kit consists of 10 items including T-shirts, jackets, pants, shorts, shoes and a hat. Special materials with good ventilation have been used for this, taking into account the intense summer heat in Houston.
In addition to the matches at NRG Stadium, the services of volunteers will be available at airports, fan festivals and team hotels.
Although volunteers from more than 150 countries are present, special phone translation facilities have also been set up at the Fan Fest booths to assist foreign tourists.
'Without volunteers, it would not be possible to hold a tournament of this magnitude in Houston. They are the heartbeat of this program.' Toke Awofala is the volunteer manager.
The host committee said that they aim to provide a great experience for spectators arriving for the World Cup matches and increase the city's image.
