New York: Three people have died in two major fires in the Bronx and Queens within a day, the fire department said. The bodies of two of the dead were found in a building in the Bronx.

A major fire broke out in a building on Third Avenue in Moto Haven on Wednesday. One body was found after the fire was extinguished. However, a detailed inspection conducted on Thursday revealed a second body inside the building. It was initially thought to be an abandoned apartment.

The third death was reported in another fire in Queens.

The cause of the fire is not clear in both incidents. A special unit of the fire department is investigating.

In the wake of these consecutive tragedies, the fire department has intensified inspections in residential areas of the city.
