Montana: 33-year-old Anthony Polio was killed in a bear attack in Glacier National Park in Montana, USA. This is the first bear attack death reported in the area since 1998.

Anthony had sent an emotional voicemail to his father just before the attack. "Dad, I'm hiking. It's a beautiful wilderness here. I love you, Dad," the message read.

Anthony was hiking alone on the Mountain Brown Trail when he came across the bear. Investigators believe it was an unexpected encounter.

Evidence also suggests that Anthony, an experienced hiker, used 'bear spray' to fend off the bear. But he was unable to escape the attack.

Anthony's body was found about 15 meters from the trail in the woods. The area is currently temporarily closed as a safety precaution.

Anthony, a native of Florida, was a great athlete and social activist. His father, Arthur, who was devastated by his son's death, tearfully recalled that Anthony was a fighter.
