79th Cannes Film Festival kicks off; Two Malayalam films to be screened

The 79th Cannes Film Festival has begun. Six Indian films are being screened at the Cannes Film Festival, one of the world's largest film festivals. John Abraham's Amma Ariyaan and Chidambaram's Balan: The Boy will also be screened at Cannes this time. Indian Payal Kapadia, who won the Grand Prix in 2024, is the president of the 'Cannes Critics Week' jury this time.

There are 6 Indian films at the 79th Cannes Film Festival. Kerala is proud that 2 of them are Malayalam films. Amma Ariyaan, released in 1986 and starring Joy Mathew in the lead role, is being screened in the 'Cannes Classics' section. The screening of Amma Ariyaan will be held at Cannes on May 16 at 3.45 pm. The Film Heritage Foundation will screen the restored version in 4K format at Cannes.

After Manjummal Boys, Chidambaram's 'Balan: The Boy' is set to screen at the Cannes Film Festival. Balan is being screened in the Marketing Screening section.
