The death toll in Africa is rising due to the Ebola virus outbreak. 139 people have died from the Ebola virus in the past month. Nearly 600 Ebola cases have been reported. The World Health Organization has said that the risk of the epidemic is high. The first Ebola virus death was confirmed in DR Congo on April 24.

A rare variant of Ebola, Bundibugo, is behind the spread of the disease in Central and East Africa. Bundibugo is one of six variants of the Ebola virus. The others are Zaire, Sudan, Tai Forest, Reston, and Bombali. There are warnings that if the funeral ceremonies of the infected are not carried out according to safety standards, it will also increase the spread of the disease.

The World Health Organization declared Ebola a disease on March 3, 2014. Three weeks after the virus enters the body, symptoms such as fever, dry throat, muscle aches, and headache appear. The liver and kidneys can quickly fail. Ebola mainly spreads to humans through animals.

The Ebola virus is found in the bodies of animals such as monkeys, pigs, and bats. The disease can be transmitted to humans by touching them or eating their meat. The mortality rate ranges from 25% to 90%.
