India among world's 50 hottest cities, report says. Heatwave grips northern, central and eastern parts of country, with temperatures crossing 40 degrees Celsius before noon on Friday.

According to Air Quality and Weather Tracker, Indian cities feature in the list of the world's 50 hottest cities. Balangir in Odisha is the hottest city with a temperature of 45 degrees Celsius. Chandrapur and Prayagraj are close behind, recording 44 degrees Celsius. Multiple cities from Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Telangana, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh feature in the list.
