Major earthquake in the Philippines; followed by tsunami, three people died

 

 

Tsunami followed by earthquake in the Philippines. There was extensive damage in the southern regions of the Philippines. About 38 buildings collapsed. Tsunami waves have been reported to have reached six places in Mindanao, Philippines. The report is from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology. The tsunami warning has been withdrawn in Indonesia.

About 15 people have been reported to have died in the earthquake that struck the Philippines in the early hours of this morning. The earthquake, which measured 8.2 on the Richter scale, occurred in the southern Philippines. Several multi-storey buildings collapsed in the accident. School and university buildings were also damaged. The accident occurred at around 8 am local time. The earthquake occurs when many schools have started their activities.
