UAE bans social media use by children under 15

 

 

The UAE has banned children from using social media. The ban applies to children under the age of 15. The decision was made by the UAE Cabinet. With this, the UAE has become the first Gulf country to take a decisive decision.

According to a survey conducted in 2024, children in the UAE were found to spend about three hours a day on these platforms. Experts have suggested that prolonged social media use among children increases challenges including anxiety, attention deficit, academic difficulties, and in some cases, speech delays.
