Chicago: Twelve people were injured in a shooting on Chicago's South Side. The incident took place around 11 pm on June 19. Chicago police said two men in a red SUV opened fire on a crowd gathered on the side of the road.
The injured range in age from 17 to 47. A 17-year-old boy and a 26-year-old man are in critical condition. No one has died in the incident so far. Police have intensified their investigation to find the suspects.
The shooting took place just a few miles from the site of the Obama Presidential Center opening ceremony in the presence of former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama. Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson had earlier urged people to prioritize safety in the wake of Juneteenth celebrations and Father's Day weekend.
