Alberta Premier Daniel Smith tells international students they can't stay in Canada with expired visas

 

 

Canada: Alberta Premier Daniel Smith has made a statement that worries international students and those on temporary visas. Smith clarified that students who have expired student visas or other temporary visas without obtaining permanent residency status will not have the right to stay in Canada and should return to their home countries in such cases.

She also called for Alberta to have more power to select skilled workers to meet its economic needs. She also reiterated her position that the current immigration system should have more provincial control.
