Bishnoi gang network in Canada under student visas; Secret report

 

 

Ottawa: A secret intelligence report by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has revealed that the India-based Lawrence Bishnoi gang has expanded its underworld network in the country by abusing Canada's international student visa system and work permit programs.

The report says that although Bishnoi's main follower, Goldie Brar, came to Canada in 2017 under the guise of studying, there is no clear evidence that he studied and that he subsequently played a key role in strengthening the gang's activities in Canada.

According to the assessment of the CBSA's intelligence unit, investigations have found that some Indian youths who come to Canada on study permits and work permits are being recruited by the gang and used in organized crimes such as murder, extortion, and targeted attacks.

At the same time, the context of the report indicates that only a very small group engages in such activities and that the majority of international students have nothing to do with it.
