A woman walking her dog was seriously injured after being hit by a car driven by a child under 10 in Oakland, California. The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. Thursday. The woman was walking her dog in a crosswalk when the child was hit by the vehicle driven by the child.

The woman, who was seriously injured in the accident, was immediately taken to a nearby hospital. Her condition is still critical, police said. The accident involved a white Toyota Camry. In addition to the child who was in the driver's seat, there was another child under 10 in the car. Both children were taken to the hospital for a medical examination after the accident. Both are in stable condition.

The car then lost control after hitting another vehicle coming from the opposite direction and hit the woman who was in the crosswalk. Their pet dog, which ran away from the scene of the accident, was later found uninjured.

Police have not released information about how the children got the car keys or who owns the vehicle. Police said the children's parents have been contacted and are cooperating with the investigation. The Auckland Police Department's Traffic Investigation Unit has launched an investigation into the incident.
