24 Canadians among those missing in Nepal floods. According to reports so far, more than 160 people have died in the disaster and more than 400 are missing. It has been confirmed that Canadian citizens are also among them.

In addition to the 24 Canadians, 133 tourists from India, 47 from the United States, 34 from Australia and 33 from the United Kingdom are missing. This includes an Indian group that went on a pilgrimage to Kailash. 62 locals who went on a pilgrimage to Gosaikunda Lake in Nepal and 28 policemen who were on security duty are also missing.

Many roads and bridges collapsed in the floods and many houses were submerged in mud. Hydroelectric projects in the region also suffered major damage. Meteorologists said the flash floods were caused by a landslide in the Himalayan region. The Trishuli River rose by 9 meters (27 feet) in half an hour.

The Nepalese government has made all arrangements for rescue operations. India and China have offered assistance. Authorities have warned people in the affected areas to be vigilant and stay away from riverbanks.
