Washington DC: The US on Sunday attacked Iranian rocket launchers on Larak Island in an attempt to prevent them from laying sea mines in the Strait of Hormuz. In response, Iran's Revolutionary Guards launched missile strikes on US air bases in Jordan, causing heavy damage to infrastructure and military facilities.
The attack has sent oil prices soaring in the global market. Brent crude prices have risen above $90 a barrel. Six months into the US-Iran conflict, diplomatic efforts for peace are currently at a standstill.
