US judge rejects plea to dismiss Adani co-defendants. Strong criticism against top officialA federal court has rejected the US Justice Department's plea to dismiss criminal charges against Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani's co-defendants in a multi-crore bribery case.

The judge cited non-compliance with prosecution procedures as the reason for this. Although the court had earlier dropped some charges against Adani, Uchchakha did not provide specific reasons and facts in dropping the charges against the co-defendants, US District Judge Nicholas Garoufis said. The judge, who strongly criticized the department's actions, also questioned the approach of Trent McCorter, a senior Uchchakha official.

Judge Nicholas Garoufis made his position clear in a 14-page order. He accused Trent McCorter of failing to present the necessary facts and evidence to the court and of making baseless arguments. The judge has stated that he will consider withdrawing the case later if the necessary documents and facts are presented.

Meanwhile, the Justice Department, which disagreed with the court's ruling, has announced that it will appeal it. US prosecutors indicted Adani and other defendants in late 2024 in a case of bribing Indian officials in connection with a solar power project.
