Prominent doctor, nurse killed in Florida plane crash

Florida: A prominent doctor and nurse were killed in a small plane crash near Tampa Executive Airport. The deceased were Dr. David Ciambanes (59), a pediatric spine specialist, and Dawn Stone (53), a nurse practitioner who worked with Advent Health.

A single-engine Lancare Evolution aircraft that had departed Tampa Airport for North Carolina crashed into a forest shortly after takeoff on Thursday morning. The aircraft caught fire after the crash. The aircraft, owned by Dr. Ciambanes, is under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration.
