Florida: Jessica Vlasak (42) has been arrested for the fatal beating of her three-month-old son. A post-mortem report revealed that the baby's skull was crushed when the diamond ring on Jessica's finger struck his head.

The infant was found unconscious at their home in Lakeland, Florida, during the second week of September. Although he was rushed to the hospital, his life could not be saved. Jessica initially told the police that the incident was accidental and occurred while she was sleeping next to the baby. However, the post-mortem examination discovered three areas of severe impact on the baby's head, noting that one injury was caused by a square-shaped object. Subsequent investigations confirmed that the diamond ring Jessica was wearing was the cause of the infant's death. She was transferred to the Polk County Jail on Thursday, September 10, and is scheduled to appear in court on October 13.

The baby's father informed the police that Jessica tended to become violent when intoxicated. Police also noted that Jessica behaved normally when speaking to the father a few days after the incident. Jessica, currently held at the Polk County Jail, has been charged with child abuse.
