Chicago Hotel Workers Authorize Strike

Chicago: Hotel workers in downtown Chicago have authorized a strike to demand wage increases and better benefits. More than 85 percent of union members voted in favor of the strike.

Over 7,000 employees from major hotel chains such as Hyatt, Marriott, and Hilton are preparing for the strike. Negotiations between the union and management had been ongoing since June, following the expiration of their contract on August 31. The rising cost of living and increased workload are the primary factors driving the workers toward this strike. A previous hotel workers' strike in Chicago in 2018 lasted for approximately one month.
