Heads of AI companies have issued warnings regarding the development of artificial intelligence. Addressing the UN Security Council, they called for safety standards to ensure the technology is handled with caution. Two major AI companies raised concerns before the Council, emphasizing the need for international standards and inter-country cooperation to regulate the industry, warning that a lack of oversight could threaten global security.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei advocated for AI regulation in separate addresses to the UN Security Council. Dario Amodei warned that allowing AI to grow unchecked could lead to the destruction of humanity.
