Passport Amendment: Kerala High Court Issues Crucial Order

 

 

The High Court has ruled that a divorce decree need not be produced to remove a spouse's name from a passport. Justice Murali Purushothaman issued the order, noting that there is no such stipulation in the passport regulations. This clarification came in response to a petition filed by a 28-year-old woman from Thrissur—divorced via *Talaq*—challenging the passport authorities' requirement that she produce a divorce decree to remove her ex-husband's name from her passport.
