Malayali athletes M. Sreeshankar and Ancy Sojan win silver in Asian Games long jump

 

 

Malayali athlete M. Sreeshankar won silver in the Asian Games long jump, achieving a distance of 8.07 meters. He recorded this impressive distance during his second attempt but had to withdraw after sustaining an injury during his fourth jump.

Sreeshankar, a native of Yakkara in Palakkad, had previously won silver at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in July with a jump of 8.09 meters. He also secured silver at the Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China.

Yesterday, Malayali athlete Ancy Sojan won the silver medal in the women's long jump at the Asian Games. She achieved this remarkable feat with a jump of 6.53 meters, missing out on the gold medal by a margin of just two centimeters.
