St. Louis: An SUV carrying a three-year-old child plunged into a pond in Missouri. The child narrowly escaped a major tragedy, thanks to the timely intervention of local residents who were present at the scene.

The incident occurred on the morning of Thursday, November 5, in St. Peters, Missouri. Megan Kohlhaas had parked her GMC Yukon near a pond while she went to escort three other children to a school bus stop. Her three-year-old daughter remained alone inside the vehicle. Police believe the child may have accidentally shifted the car into gear, causing it to roll forward and fall into the water.

Although the mother and the other children cried out upon seeing the vehicle moving toward the pond, it quickly sank into the water. Local residents, who rushed to the scene, broke the car windows and pulled the child out safely. The rescue took place just moments before the vehicle became completely submerged.

The child was taken to a hospital for a medical examination. The mother, Megan Kohlhaas, sustained an injury to her leg. She and her family expressed their gratitude and appreciation to the local residents who saved the child's life. The police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
