Taxi fares may increase in Edmonton

According to reports, Taxi rates in Edmonton may increase by 50 cents for the first time since 2007. Taxi fares have increased as petrol costs have remained high. The proposed hike from $3.60 to $4.10 in the fare is being made by city officials.

 Despite rising insurance, gasoline, and repair costs, according to Mayor Amarjeet Sohi, drivers continue to face hardships because taxi charges have not increased since 2007. He highlighted, that the council would decide on a reasonable charge for low-income taxi riders.
